ABOUT US

To most people, the rules of golf are as numerous and indiscernible as the blades of grass on a course. Our goal is to help explain, decode and simplify these rules for every golfer, and bring a higher level of understanding and enjoyment to the game.

TRADITION

The Professional Golf Referees Association (PGRA) represents Rules Officials from the PGA Tour, Web.com Tour, and the Champions Tour. While our members hail from a wide variety of backgrounds, they all share the same respect for golf and dedication to upholding the traditions and integrity of the game. Our mission is to provide and ensure equitable benefits and working conditions for all Professional Golf Officials in the United States.

INTEGRITY

PGRA Officials are responsible for maintaining the integrity of golf’s most prestigious tournaments. This entails planning every aspect of an event, from determining course layout and selecting hole locations to establishing pairings and organizing volunteers— all in addition to officiating the tournaments themselves.

PGRA Officials work with all major golf associations, including those in Europe, and serve on committees for the USGA and PGA of America. Our Rules Officials are assigned to work tournaments around the world, and are represented at every World Golf Championship, The Players Championship and all four Majors.

HONOR

The game of golf operates by a code of honor that has been passed down frfom one generation of players to the next, since the first pebble was launched by a swing of a stick in mid-15th century Scotland. As rules officials, we work in concert with players to uphold this code and thereby pay tribute to a sport that has been enjoyed by legions of fans for centuries.
